1. Who we are and what this notice covers

Szymon Niemiec (“we”, “us”) operates the Local TTS mobile app for iOS and Android. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected]. This notice describes the current app's on-device reading, voice downloads, optional analytics, purchases, support and linked legal pages. The app does not require a Local TTS account.

Your reading content is not sent to us for speech generation. Local operation does not mean the app never uses the internet: voice downloads, purchase checks, optional analytics, support and web pages involve separate services described below.

2. Documents, photos, speech and local storage

Text you type or paste, imported files, selected photos and scans, OCR output, saved titles and drafts, reading progress, and generated audio are processed on your device to provide reading and export. Supported text extraction and speech synthesis run on-device after the required voice package is available. We do not upload your document text, photos or generated speech to our servers or use them to train AI models. The current app has no Local TTS cloud document sync.

The app keeps a local library, copies of some imported originals, drafts, preferences, voice files and an audio cache. It may create a local WAV export when you choose to export and share audio. The destination selected through your system share sheet then handles the file under its own terms. Some operating-system backups, device transfers or copies you create may retain app data; manage them in your device and cloud-account settings. We cannot remotely access or restore local content we never received.

Photo-library selection and camera scanning need the relevant device permission or picker access. The app uses selected images to extract text locally. Permission can be changed in system settings. You can avoid these features and enter or import text instead.

3. Voice package downloads

The app downloads voice/model packages from Hugging Face links included in the app, checks file integrity and stores the packages locally. A download request can expose your IP address and ordinary connection/device information to the hosting and network providers. Document text is not included in model download requests. You can remove downloaded voices in Offline storage; the app may need to download them again for playback.

4. Optional analytics

If PostHog is configured for a build, optional analytics is off by default and begins only after you enable it in Settings. When enabled, the app sends limited events such as app opens, fixed screen categories, paywall actions and purchase outcomes. Allowed event details can include a plan or product/package identifier, displayed price, reason category, event time, a random analytics ID, session ID, and limited app, library, operating-system and version information. These identifiers can distinguish an installation and are pseudonymous, not guaranteed anonymous.

The app's event filter is designed to exclude document content, document IDs, file names, entered text, generated recordings, raw errors, advertising IDs, screen recordings and precise location. The app disables PostHog session replay, automatic error tracking and IP-based geolocation in its analytics configuration. We do not use analytics for advertising or cross-app tracking. Turning it off blocks future event transmission and discards unsent events on a best-effort basis; it cannot retract data already received. The Analytics details screen shows the ID needed to identify received analytics events for a deletion request. Analytics being off does not disable reading or purchases.

For users covered by the GDPR or UK GDPR, our legal basis for this optional analytics is consent. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings without losing core features. We do not rely on acceptance of this policy as consent.

5. Purchases and app stores

If a RevenueCat key is configured, RevenueCat helps display offerings, verify purchases, restore access and track subscription entitlement. It may receive a generated customer ID, app/store and device information, product identifiers, receipts or purchase tokens, transaction and subscription status, expiry and renewal information, including during eligibility checks before you buy. Apple or Google handles payment, store-account and billing details under its own policies. We do not receive your full payment card or bank-account number. Purchase processing operates independently of your optional PostHog choice.

For users covered by the GDPR or UK GDPR, purchase verification and entitlement management are generally necessary to perform the purchase contract or take requested pre-contract steps. Fraud prevention, security and dispute handling may rely on proportionate legitimate interests; legally required records rely on legal obligations.

6. Support, legal pages and recipients

When you choose to email support, we receive your email address, sender name if supplied, message and any attachments. The in-app feedback screen prepares an email with your message, originating screen and platform/version; you decide whether to send it. Please remove sensitive document text, credentials and payment details before sending. We use support correspondence to answer your request, investigate faults and handle complaints. The legal bases, where applicable, are your service request or contract, our proportionate legitimate interests in support and defending claims, and legal obligations.

These legal/support pages are hosted by Notion. Opening a page sends your browser to Notion, which may process IP address, browser data and cookies under its own notice. Your email provider, Apple or Google, RevenueCat, PostHog when enabled, Hugging Face for downloads, and Notion may receive the limited information described above. Some act as our processors and others as independent providers for their own services. We may disclose information to professional advisers or authorities when legally required or necessary to protect rights. We do not sell personal information or share reading content with ad networks.
