Welcome to Local TTS, an on-device reader for text and documents. Support is provided by Szymon Niemiec at [email protected]. This page covers the current iOS and Android app.

Contact support

Email [email protected] or use Settings → Feedback. The feedback screen opens your email app; nothing is sent until you choose to send it. Include your device model, iOS or Android version, app version, the file type, and the steps that led to the problem. Please redact private text and screenshots. Do not send passwords, payment card numbers, or entire private documents. Response times vary.

Getting started

  1. Add text by typing or pasting it, or import a supported file. On iOS you can also choose a photo or scan a page.
  2. Select a reading language and voice. Download the voice package when prompted; the app verifies the download.
  3. Save the document and press Play. The saved document, reading position and generated audio cache remain on your device.
  4. The free version offers a limited listening preview for each document. The current preview is up to three minutes of source audio per document. Available Premium plans and prices appear in the purchase screen.

Common questions

Does reading need an internet connection?

Speech synthesis and supported on-device text extraction work locally after the required voice package has been downloaded. Initial voice downloads, purchases, restoring access, support email and these web pages require a connection. The app does not upload document text to a speech server for narration.

Why can I not hear a voice?

Open the voice picker and check whether the selected voice package says Ready offline. If not, download or resume it with a reliable connection and enough free storage. Check your device volume and audio output, then restart playback. A damaged package can be removed and downloaded again under Settings → Offline storage; your documents remain in the library.

Why did the reading stop?

Free listening is limited per document. The preview currently ends after about three minutes of source audio at a sentence boundary; changing speed does not expand the preview. Premium access can be bought or restored from the purchase screen. If Premium is active and reading still stops, contact support with the device and app version.

Why does a PDF, photo or scan have missing or incorrect words?

Text-based PDFs are easier to extract. Image-only PDFs may contain no selectable text. On supported iOS devices, use photo import or the document scanner to recognize printed text on-device, then review and edit the extracted text before saving. OCR, file formatting and language detection can make mistakes. Do not treat a reading as a verified copy of the original document.

Where are my documents? Can support restore them?

The current app stores its library, original imported files, drafts, playback position and cached audio locally. It does not offer a Local TTS account or cloud document sync. Support cannot recover files it never received. Deleting a document removes its associated app copy; clearing app storage or uninstalling may remove the entire local library. Consider keeping independent copies of important documents and exported audio.
